Awesome Sloth's Awesome Songs, Vol: 6: Battle Angels

Falsetto-haters beware: this one's not for you...

Seattle's Sanctuary debuted in 1988 with Refuge Denied, from which this piercing banshee-wail of a track is taken.  Produced by Dave Mustaine, Refuge Denied was a kick-ass record, if perhaps not a particularly successful one.  One more record later (1990's less-thrash, more moody-progressive Into The Mirror Black), Sanctuary disbanded, and vocalist Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard formed Nevermore.

Awesome Sloth says, "Fall on your knees...  AND HAIL TO THE DAWN."

Such a kick ass song, album, band.  Still remember picking this up as a blind buy because of the Mustaine involvement.  What a killer find.

This song really takes me back to my younger days, hanging upside down from a tree, feeding myself leaves with my two big-ass toes, listening to Sanctuary.  Those days were awesome.

Fuck yeah, man.
