When: 3/30/10
Where: Club Firestone, Orlando, FL
Who: THE ALMIGHTY KREATOR
My ears are humming (might as well be bleeding). The enormous sound of the double bass drums engulfed the guitars and bass, only the vocals escaped the brutality, the fury, the torment of the drums. The wind of sound with its colossal vibrations blew my pants away. There was no space in our brains for one's own thoughts, each inch of our minds was filled with the loudness, the wall of sound, the hate.
When the first few bars of "extreme aggression" were played, my heart jumped and skipped and I felt like a kid in a candy store. Happiness turned into euphoria and I joined the crowd on the floor next to the very active mosh pit. My eyes watered. I was paying homage to the girl who existed in me over 20 years ago. An overwhelming feeling of exhilaration came over me, by body from head to toe covered in goose bumps. The hair behind my neck stood up and a lot of headbanging ensued.
My fellow metalhead brothers and sisters clad mostly in black, with long hair and tattooed bodies proceeded to mosh even harder. The band continues to kick some major f'n ass. Kreator are in full shape and there is no sign they are stopping. They are determined on destroying audiences in their path. The passion is there, the heart is there, untouched, same as it was back in 1985, when they wrote their anthem Pleasure to Kill while they were mere teenagers. Long live metal!
