I don't really have much time off from work to get some shopping done. I've been wanting to get some new reading material for nearly a month and both excursions to get a novel have been met with frustration and wasted time. My first attempt was to go to a Chapters that I had previously been to. I take the bus down and when I get there, I find the place shut down. "No problem", I mused, "there's a mall back where I came from, they'll be a bookstore there." I get to the mall and I find this crappy little hobby bookstore with a shitty selection of books. You'd think that going to a mall in Toronto, you'd have a decent bookstore in it like a Coles or something. I grew up in a small city and both of the malls we had a good bookstore in them. I go home that night completely empty handed.
That brings me to tonight. I have the night off from work and none of my friends are up to anything so the night is completely mine. I decide to check out the big multi-level mall that's reasonably close that I've never been to before. Surely a mall that size has a bookstore. I walk there, since there's no decent bus service to this mall for me, and that takes about 45 minutes. That part isn't a problem at all, as I enjoy walks since it gives me some good music listening time (Death's Symbolic in this case).
I get there and once again I'm baffled by the fact that there is absolutely no bookstores in this mall. NONE! The last one at least had a crappy place, but the big important mall doesn't. I don't get it! I decide I'm not going to leave this place empty handed so I go to the music store and find it's one of the most poorly organized chain stores I've ever seen (let's just say the CDs were either considered "Music" or "Classical"). I did find something I wanted and left and proceeded to blare some brooding music in my headphones.
Fuck malls! How about they close down one out of the hundred clothing stores they got in there and put in a Coles. Gah!
