So, Negura

I really don't know what to say, except that it was one helluva show.

Four bands played and besides Negura, I'm going to mention one other that blew me away. The band is none other that the Washington Inquisition. I found it pretty amazing that two guys on a stage can make such a great show. It sounded like any other four/five piece band. With Dagon on guitar and Incubus on Pagan War Drums, these men play raw, give me chills black metal. For those of you who haven't heard of the band, there's a review of their Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer right here. What gives them a particularly sinister touch is that Dagon uses effects on his vocals all the time and it, indeed, then sounds evil. They're just good old school black metal. I heartily recommend. And they wear corpsepaint!

And now, Negură Bunget...

I was so hyped the entire evening, I couldn't wait to see them. The venue where the bands played was this small club in a town not far from Zagreb so we had to drive there which only made it more fun. You know, the whole going on a small road trip to see an awesome metal band play. They, naturally, played last so everyone was already pretty drunk by the time they got on stage, err, including me. (I mean it was nearly 2 am when they started). The fact that I was tipsy only helped not to whine about the sound (which was pretty bad) as I tend to do that on shows..

Nonetheless, I enjoyed their show completely. They played and hour and a half and covered material from all three full lengths I own. I'm just not sure if they played anything off Zîrnindu-Sã cause I don't have that one. Besides, excellent musicianship, they know how to put on a show. The atmosphere was great and the audience was just in love with the fellas (and one, very arrogant lady).

I did eventually end up backstage but there was no Negura there... So, I exchanged a few drunken words with Dagon aka Voice of Unholy Sorrow and the guys from the Hungarian Tesstimony (whose singer was so drunk he kept falling on me and he was singing freakin Duran Duran to me!) and went on my marry way.

But, that's ok, cause I caught Negura Bunget before the show!
