Well guys and gals, it’s all over. 2009 is behind us, but will last long in our memories as we forge bravely into a new year already full of promise. 2009 has been truly exceptional, and is a fitting swan song to the first decade of the 21st century.
Anyway, Juho, Besty and I wish to extend our thanks to all who took part. Quite obviously, this couldn’t have happened without you. As promised, there is a $50 voucher waiting for one lucky voter, but we’ll come to that later. A special mention also needs to go to Besty, who over the last month has diligently compiled everybody’s lists. His massive efforts are certainly worthy of recognition.
It has been fascinating watching this list evolve. After a few worrying days with Slayer on top, good taste prevailed. Those hoping to see World Painted Blood do well are likely to be disappointed. At some point over the past few weeks, two very special albums broke away from the rest, a testament to both the strength of these two extraordinary pieces of music, and the tastes of this websites readership. You guys sure know your stuff. The rest of the list has been far more dynamic, with the final positions of many albums not decided until the last few votes.
But that’s enough from me. Here are the 15 albums that didn’t make it into the top 10, but are worthy of recognition nevertheless.

So Crack the Skye is our album of the year. It topped my list, and I’m pleased to see it get such wide recognition. It is a truly phenomenal piece of work, and I can’t think of another album that gained such unanimous praise in so many circles, metal or otherwise.
Well then, it’s the moment most of you have been waiting for. We’re pleased to announce that St. Dude is the lucky winner of the $50 voucher to the All That Is Heavy distro. Juho or Besty will be in contact soon. Happy shopping!
Finally, Stalker has been pestering us to post the full results so you can all see:
