I like depressing metal from time to time, but sometimes the Death Growl gets old, and i like some clean vocals.
too bad i don't have any doom bands that only use clean vocals, or at least use clean most of the time.
i have 2 songs
"To Bid you Farewell" - Opeth
and
"For My Fallen Angle" - My Dying Bride
any ideas?
Anathema- Lost Control. One of the most depressing things I've heard in a long time.
also by Opeth- A Fair Judgement.
there's plenty out there, to be sure.
Warning - Watching From a Distance
One of the most powerful vocal performances I've ever heard. Just hearing the climax to "Footprints" gets me every time.

Quoted for tr00f.
"Wasting Love" by Maiden. It's depressing because it sucks.
sloanan: Anathema- Lost Control. One of the most depressing things I've heard in a long time.
Agreed.
Also (non-metal) Sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkle. It gets me everytime.

Nevemore- Sentient 6
Good choice. Fragile Dreams is pretty deppresing too. Anything on Alternative 4 or Judgement for that matter.
For personal reasons My Twin from Katatonia. Also one of my all time favortie songs Charlotte Sometimes by the Cure
I'll give a nod to Katatonia's "Dead House".
Oh my god, it's a tie!
Katatonia-"criminals"
and, Acid Bath-"graveflower"
"The Chosen Pessimist" - In Flames
... hearing this while knowing it's by the same band that made The Jester Race is pretty damn depressing.
"The Architecture of Loss" by Funeral.
