I am going to do a Meshuggah ranking that makes very little sense to anyone else:

1. Nothing

2. I

3. Destroy Erase Improve

4. ObZen

5. Chaosphere

6. Catch Thirtythree

I didn't rank Contradictions because I've never heard the full album.  Is it worth getting?

If you really like Destroy Erase Improve and Meshuggah then yes but its almost just a thrash album and barely sounds like Meshuggah.  Your list makes sense to me besides your low ranking of Chaosphere.

Again, that's the problem with ranking albums by a band I love, I don't want to rank any of them low.  I'm huge into all of these albums, I just don't dig Chaosphere quite as much as the rest of the Meshuggah nuts, but it still kicks 15 kinds of ass.

I know what you mean, I enjoy everything Meshuggah has put out so I'm sure on certain days my rankings would actually change a little.  Either way I'm glad someone else has love for Nothing.

Man some interesting choices here so far, lots of stuff different from what i would have said.

Bolt Thrower for example. I can't stand grind-type stuff, so Realms of Chaos would be close to last (though world eater is a pretty damn good song). Same goes for Carcass.

And MAYH being last!!!???

As far as Opeth goes for me:

1 - My Arms Your Hearse

2 - Blackwater Park

3 - Morningrise

4 - Deliverance

5 - Still Life

6 - Orchid

7 - Damnnation

8 - Ghost Reveries

Megadeth:

1 - Rust in Peace

(insert huge margin here)

2 - Countdown to extinction

3 - Peace sells...

and after that i stop caring.

I'll take a swing at a few that haven't been done :

Candlemass:

1 - S/T

2 - Nightfall

3 - Epicus Doomicus

4 - Tales of Creation

5 - King of Grey Islands

6 - Dactylis Glomerata

7 - Ancient Dreams

8 - From the 13th Sun

9 - Chapter IV

Slough Feg (since someone mentioned it):

1 - Traveller baby!!!

2 - Down among the Deadmen

3 - Hardworlder

4 - Twilight of the Idols

5 - Atavism

6 - S/T

Tool:

1 - Aenima (of course)

2 - Lateralus (the drum solo at the end of The Grudge is insane)

3 - Undertow

4 - Opiate

20 - 10,000 Days

Amorphis:

1 - Elegy

2 - Eclipse

3 - Silent Waters

4 - Tales from the Thousand Lakes

------------------------------------------------ (another one of those wide margins)

5 - Far from the sun (ONLY because of the song Day of Your Beliefs, otherwise it wouldn't be on the list)

6 - Tuonela

7 -  The Karelian Isthmus

8 - Am Universum

That's how I'd rank 'em, too.  Though I haven't even heard the mythical s/t.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg

1 - Hardworlder

2 - Traveller

5 - Atavism (this one has grown on me lately)

I havent listened to the S/T release enough to be able to rank it just yet.

MESHUGGAH AS I SEE IT in this order : I / Chaosphere / Obzen / Catch 33 / Nothing / Collapse / Destroy Erase Improve / Contradictions... I is in front, though it is just one song and about 20min, it is Meshuggah in top form. I did not rank Rare Trax.. It is good, but there is little new material. . Still gets spins though.

That song War on Rare Trax is a monster.

War is a monster. In agreement there. I also really love that way slowed down remix of Concatenation.

Yeah, I'd say Contradictions is definitely worth getting, if for nothing else than the fact that they reissued it and it now includes the None EP, which is AWESOME.  The last 4 tracks comprise that EP so definitely check it out, even if you don't like the rest of the album....which does sound VASTLY different from other Meshuggah stuff.  Think almost old school thrash, it reminds me of an off-timing Metallica almost...it seriously sounds like an old Metallica record, even in the vocals sometimes.  But yeah, it is good.

War pwns. The slowed down Concatenation pwns.  Sovereigns Morbidity and Debt Of Nature pwn.  And By Emptiness Abducted and Don't Speak pwn. The only track that really doesn't do much for me is Ayahuasca Experience or however you say that.

SEPULTURA in this order : Arise / Beneath the Remains / Morbid Visions / Chaos AD / Against / Schizophrenia / Nation / Dante XXI / Roorback ( I didn't rank Bestial Devastation since it is an EP and just different from the other stuff. More death metal but I do love it. )
