You know, I've always thought John Bush was better than Joey

I've found that whenever I hit my Anthrax collection, I seem to pick the one's from the Bush era first. I'm not dissing classic Anthrax but I think Bush brought that kind of grit that I like. Actually, I think my favorite Anthrax album is "The Greater of Two Evils". Bush smokes on "Among the Living".

But hey, you still can't go wrong with classic Anthrax either.

Thoughts?

I think he was a good replacement but not better. Armored Saint suits his style of singing a lot more. But you are right, "The Greater of Two Evils" is indeed an excellent album, he did a good job there.

'Sound of White Noise' is my Anthrax album.  I like that they dropped the cheese in the 90s.  I'll always be a Bush man and I hope Arnored Saint does another album some day as 'Revelation' was not half bad.

I think liking Joey or Bush is an age thing. I like Joey more than John. Like I said, I think it's an age thing. I was very young when Anthrax came out, but I still dug it, and for that, my favs are the Joey albums, but like the John albums too.

1. Among The Living
2. State of Euphoria
3. Spreading The Disease
4. Sound of White Noise
5. Persistence of Time
...or something like that.

I agree with all of this except that Revelation didn't blow me away.

That said, I love Among The Living and Persistance Of Time and State Of Euphoria, as well.

Agreed.  You guys know what an Armored Saint fanboy I am.  Still, I'm lukewarm on that album.  Big Bush fan though, and I think his work w/ Anthrax is undervalued in the metal community.

You're probably about my age: when did you get into Anthrax?  I started with Among The Living, and it's not so much that I think Joey is a better singer, it's more that his voice defines what Anthrax is more for me.  Sound Of White Noise is great, but I'd reach for Among, Euphoria, or Time before any of their other releases.

Great thread, I always thought I was alone on this one. Big Smile

Back in the 80s, the reason I couldn't completely get into Anthrax the way I did with Slayer, Metallica, Kreator, Exodus and Testament was Joey's voice, too high pitched and whiney for my taste. IMO, John's voice fits the music a lot better, that's why I like The Greater of Two Evils so much. Sound of White Noise is my favourite Anthrax album, btw.

Sound of White Noise is one of my favorite albums of all time.  I'm more for the Bush-era Anthrax.

You are wrong but you have a cool kid so you are excused. ha. Spreading the Disease and Among the Living are the only two albums you need by Antrhax, Armed and Dangerous with their first singer is cool two. You know what though ,I have seen Anthrax live twice once on Clash of the Titans and once opening for Ozzy on No Rest for the Wicked and they are pretty lame live. I think Bush is like Dane, you either love him or hate him, he was the reason I could never get into Armored Saint that much either.

Never seen them live with Bush. I did see them live when they were touring with Public Enemy. It was a pretty good show.

Very accurate and relevant statement right here.  I was born in '82 so...
