Horrible and overrated. They only wish they could grace the same ground Maiden is on.

Do we really need 3 Meshuggah threads on the front page?

Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of them either.  The new one has it's moments (notably, the entirety of "Bleed"), and I dug I, Chaosphere, and DEI enough to spin them a handful of times, but Nothing was absolutely horrid.  I just don't understand the hype around these guys.

Can't get into 'em.

Agreed.  I can't get into 'em either.  It seems to be a love/hate thing.

As much as I love Meshuggah, I totally, 100% understand why people not only don't like them, but think they're the worst fucking band today. Definitely a love-hate thing: either you love the heaviness, atmosphere, and brilliant groove or you hate the simplistic riffs, repetitive vocals...Still, I think its noteworthy when a band can summon such truly divided and sincere opinions from the metal scene.

Must every band be compared to Maiden?

I think Creedence Clearwater Revival is good, but they're no Iron Maiden.  Same goes for Wagner and Bach -- they didn't even have vocalists, and Maiden has BRUCE DICKINSON!!!!!

When you say simplistic you mean so mind blowingly brilliant and technical that it makes some small animals' heads explode correct? But Meshuggah is definitely love/hate relationship.

Oh and of course neither Meshuggah nor Iron Maiden is as good as Machine Head.  Ick!
