So, it's December now. What albums are you still listening to that you put on your top album list last year? By still listen to, I'll be generous and define it as "have listened to in the past two months."
I still listen to Opeth's Watershed, Ihsahn's angL, and Arsis's We Are the Nightmare, and Measuring the Abstract by Terminal Function.
I plan to go back through my list and re-listen to my top 20 and see if I still would have picked them.
The big one for me Enslaved - Vertebrae
Interesting you said Ishan's "angLe", seeing as that's the first thing that popped in my head when reading the thread title. So, yea, that one.
Definitely Ihsahn. Then, Enslaved's Vertebrae, Burst's Lazarus Bird and Nachtmystium's Assasins.
Amarok: The big one for me Enslaved - Vertebrae
Dismember -- s/t
Enslaved - Vertebrae
Opeth - Watershed
Equilibrium - Sagas
Moonsorrow - Tulimyrsky
Amon Amarth
Russian Circles - Station
Burst - Lazarus Bird
SlayerM: Nachtmystium's Assasins.
Nachtmystium's Assasins.
Thats a constant
Honestly, I hardly ever listen to anything from last year, at all. Tell me to pick ten of my favorites from last year, and I wouldn't be able to do it easily. 2009 has overshadowed almost everything for me.
Misery Index - Traitors
Young Widows - Old Wounds
Woe - A Spell For the Death of Man
Mar de Grises - The Tatterdemalion Express
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Amon Amarth - - Twilight of the thunder god
Rocco:Equilibrium - Sagas
Oh, I listen to Equilibrium too, but I didn't get that album until this fall. So that doesn't really count as my original question.
Most of it.Hornets of the Pogrom has lost some luster, but still gets spins.
Prehistoricisms by Intronaut, unbelievably, continues to sound better.
A few tracks on The Way of All Flesh get decent rotation
We Are The Nightmare has become one of my favorite albumsLazarus Bird still gets very occasional listening (which is a shame, because it deserves more)
The Fathomless Mastery still gets played every once in a while when I'm in a really heavy/cerebral mood, though it's been overshadowed by their Wacken Carnage live CD
I still every once in a while try to wrap my heavy around Foie Circulae or whatever by Withered
Traced in Air is still fantastic, but I need to be in the right mood for it.
But, most of all, Equilibrium's Sagas continues to be the most epic, melodic, intense, and brilliant hour and ten minutes of music I have heard in a long time. Except Arsis.

I'm still spinning Hornets, Vertebrae, Sagas and Massive Conspiracy Against All Life pretty regularly. I should go back and revisit that Psycroptic sometime soon though.
