sloanan: Mortem: sloanan: For anyone that gives a shite, they've got a vid for one of the songs up on their mythpathe. Awesome Castle! Weird Video... it is a weird ass video. THough I did personally like the song, I thought the vid was a little odd. Especially with the guy who strangles the girl at the end. He looked kinda crazy (you'd think he was, considering he pulled a Wayne Brady and choked a bitch).

lol.
Oddly enough. I don't like any of Opeth's video's but I like the individual songs by themselves.

Yeah, I agree. Their videos aren't really that great. But then again, its music, not videos that we care about. I can already tell you though that the album version will be much better, for sure. I liked the song, but it really felt kinda chopped up and crazy. THe same can be said about the Grand Conjuration on GR. It wasn't that great of a video and the single edit of it kinda sucked in comparison to the album version. But then again, how can you expect to cut a 10 minute song in half and it not be bad?

Yeah, you'r right.
Not to go too far off-topic but Agalloch's "Not Unlike the Waves" video is another good example of this. Incredible song! Kinda lame video. And I'm sure there are countless others like this as well.
Still... The video is weird. But I like it.
Well, here's hoping that it's an awesome cd, cause I just shelled over about 40 bucks over at The End for a collectors bundle. Comes with a poster, the collectors edish, 2 vinyls (i think it's 2), an autographed booklet, and possbily a free cd if it's in stock. And I also finally ordered the new Septic Flesh digipak, so that oughta hold me over. I saw the bundle and I just couldn't resist. Sure, Opeth hasn't been as good lately and to be honest, they're no longer one of my favorites (Mainly cause I've been getting so much lately that I haven't listened to any older cds in my collection). Hopefully this will change that. But i couldn't resist an offer like that. It just seemed really cool. I'm a sucker for collectors edition thingys.
GREAT NEWS!!!!
Number2: GREAT NEWS!!!!
Um, don't quite follow you on that one. Care to explain?

sure......watershed leaked last night.
I've listened to the new Opeth about 3 times now...and I'm a massively huge fan. I mean huge. One of my favs...and this album, is boring. Am I growing out of Opeth? I don't know, but I'm not digging this album at all, and I can't believe I'm saying this.
Listening now, and I'm really digging it... nice creepy moments in The Lotus Eater. I've only heard 3 songs so far but I can definitely sense that this album is a natural progression from Ghost Reveries. What a wonderful mix of brutal and clean vocals (some female!), a heavy dash of 70's, and some fantasic musicians. Having trouble making out lyrics, but the atmosphere is great... will be pre-ordering the special edition soon!
I like it, but it's definetly the softest album they've done other than Damnation. I'll have to give it a few more spins for it to really sink in. Werent they gonna do a cover of Alice in Chain's 'Would?' Cause it's not in my leaked copy.
After listening to the whole thing, I agree about it being softer. It is good music but I want more aggressive parts!
Trying not to judge to harshly, but I'm not enthused about this album from how it has been described so far. I've only heard "Porcelain Heart" and I wasn't digging it much. Softer and more Proggy is not Opeth's stong point, even though Mikael seems to want to go in that direction. Unless there is a good balance of heavy brutality mixed with the softer spots I'm not buying. Also, I miss Martin Lopez behind the kit. Maybe Axenrot is better, but I really loved the style Lopez had.
I probably am judging too harshly.
I as well miss Martin. He brought such an amazing flair to Opeth as a whole (eg. The Pain I See in Others). I'm in my 4th or 5th listen and each time I find it harder and harder to hold this to the light that is Opeth's previous works. I was really hoping to see some thrashy stuff from the former Arch enemy guy, but I guess it is what it is. I do however love the feel of the album as a whole.
I really hope that that Watershed has the staying power that the classics still possess.

We all miss Martin. And Peter too.
Alas, I fear the Opeth I grew to love is no more
